Mario J. "Jack" Sarni, of Melrose & Boca Raton, FL, died in Wakefield on April 15th at the age of 90. Jack was born in Boston, raised in Melrose and attended Melrose High School & New York Military Academy, Class of 1938. He served as a Sergeant in the Army with the 1905th Engineer Aviation Battalion during WWII and went on to attend Boston University Business School. Jack was a co owner of Sarni Cleaners for over 50 years and was a lifelong member of the Ancient & Honorable Artillery Company of MA. He was also a member of the Incarnation Church and Bellevue Golf Club, both in Melrose for many years. Jack was the beloved husband of the late Phyllis C. (Cimaglia) Sarni for 63 years. Loving father of James Sarni of Ft. Lauderdale, John Sarni & his wife Sarah of Andover, Deborah Grondin & her husband Richard of Wakefield and Ronald Sarni & his wife Patricia of Concord. Cherished grandfather of Jonathan, John-Paul, Jacqueline, Patrick, Jared, Anthony, Julia and Joseph. Caring brother of Ralph Sarni & his wife Lorna of Melrose, Mary Rubino & her late husband Steve of Wakefield and James Sarni Jr. & his wife Jeanette of Melrose. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Monday, April 19th at 9:45AM. Funeral Mass in St. Joseph's Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 11:00AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours on Sunday from 2-6PM. Burial will be private. Contributions may be made in Jack's name to VNA of Middlesex East, 607 North Ave., Suite 17, Wakefield, MA 01880.
